  As a coastal city, Wenzhou is rich in natural resources. The 339-kilometer long coastline gives the city abundant marine resources and many beautiful islands. Dongtou, one of the counties in Wenzhou, is also called the “County of One Hundred Islands”. Wenzhou also boasts wonderful landscapes with rugged mountains and tranquil waters, including three state-level scenic spots, namely the Yandang Mountain, the Nanxi River and the Baizhangji Fall-Feiyun Lake, and two national nature reserves, namely the Wuyanling Ridge and the Nanji Islands, among which Yandang Mountain has been named as World Geopark, while Nanji Islands listed as UNESCO’s Marine Nature Reserve of World Biosphere Reserves. Scenic area accounts for 25% of the city’s land space, which is a perfect integration of exotic mountains, tender water and charming sea.


• Yandang Mountain

  Regarded as the First Mountain of Southeast China, Yandang Mountain is one of the ten most famous mountains in China, rising 1,150 meters high in Yueqing City, twenty-five kilometers from Wenzhou in Zhejiang Province. In Chinese, Yandang means "reed marsh for wild geese" and in autumn wild geese do gather in the marshes around the lake at the top of the mountain. Composed of North Yandang, Middle Yandang and South Yandang, the mountain was formed some 120 million years ago, and is regarded by scientists as a natural museum of great historic and scientific significance.

                  


• Nanxi River

  Situated in Yongjia County, Zhejiang Province, Nanxi River Scenic Area is adjacent to Yandang Mountain (a famous world geological park southeast of Wenzhou City) in the east and covers an area of 625 square kilometers (241.3 square miles). This national scenic area is the only one marked by the rural scenery of China. With its leisurely atmosphere and picturesque scenery, it is an ideal place for holiday and leisure and is praised as the Cradle of Landscape Painting of China. Centered on Nanxi River, the area is a perfect combination of natural views, rural scenery and human landscape. It is famous for its water, rocks, waterfalls, ancient villages and shoals, and there are over 800 scenic spots scattered in the area. Generally speaking, the scenic area can be divided into seven parts, including Nanxi River, Daruoyan Rock, Water Rock, Sihai Hill and Tumen Gate. Of them, Nanxi River and the ancient villages are the most attractive.

                  


• Jiangxin Island

   Jiangxin Island is located in the middle reaches of the Oujiang River north of Wenzhou. It covers an area of about 70,000 square meters (17 acres). The island is known as the Penglai (a fabled abode of immortals) of the Oujiang River due to its beautiful natural sceneries, cultural and historical sties and its location. It is one of the four most renowned islands in China. The island features various kinds of old green trees, such as the approximately thousand year-old banyan, the eight hundred year-old camphor tree and the four hundred year-old olive. Other species growing there include fragrant flowers, water plants and ferns. Among the island's most appealing features are its drizzle in spring, sunglow at sea, moonlight on the Oujiang River, bonfire on the shoal and limpid springs. Another natural attraction is the Bonsai Garden, which displays a variety of the middle and small sized bonsai trees. Also displayed are the micro sceneries of the Hezhang Peak and Guanyin Cave of Yandang Mountain.

                  


• Nanji Islands

  Nanji Island is the main island of a group of 15 islands and islets, situated in the south-eastern waters of Pingyang County, Wenzhou in south-east China. This was the first marine/coastal biosphere reserve in China. The 28 km long coastline consists of exposed bedrock and sharp cliffs, bays and islets. The biosphere reserve offers a multitude of diverse marine habitats which host a rich number of shellfish and algae species. Fifteen of the identified 403 species of shellfish have been found only in the Nanji waters. The shellfish and algae are intermittently distributed in the tropical and temperate marine realms, which makes this species-rich site even more important for conservation and scientific research. These species are concentrated in the core areas, which consist of two islets and a portion of Nanji Island and their surrounding waters, with an area of 663 hectares. The total area, including the transition area, is 20,629 hectares.

                  


• Zeya Scenic Area

  Zeya Scenic Area is situated at 18 kilometers northeast of Wenzhou urban district. It is located between the elegant Zeya Town and north auspicious forest town. As a provincial scenic sport area of Zhejiang Province, it occupies a land area of 128.6 square kilometers. It is also called the South Zhejiang Grand Canyon. Then landscape takes the group of waterfall, the deep pool, the quiet canyon and the wonderful crag and other natural scenery as its main characteristic and integrates Piao Ye mountain village scenery into one. It is divided into seven waterfall gorges namely Jin Kengxia, the mountain angle, the Ze elegant lake, Xishan, Longxi, Qi cloud and five phoenix eight big scenic areas. There are altogether more than 230 scenic sports.
