According to Hangzhou Customs, though the demand from developed countries in Europe and U.S. has shrunk rapidly, the export of Wenzhou electricals to some developing countries and emerging markets maintains good momentum. Wenzhou is an important production base of electrical equipment in China. In particular, Liushi Town of Yueqing City is called "Capital of China's Low-Voltage Electrical Equipment", where many large-scale electrical enterprises are located including CHINT and DELIXI etc. Affected by the financial crisis, the market of main developed countries in Europe and U.S. has shrunk rapidly, and the export of electricals in Wenzhou is facing a great challenge. According to the statistics from Wenzhou Customs, the export of Wenzhou mechanical and electrical products reaches USD 1,629 million from January to May this year, a 18.43% drop year on year. However, the export of Wenzhou mechanical and electrical products to some developing countries and emerging markets has maintained good momentum. As the statistics from Wenzhou Customs show, during the period from January to May this year, the export of Wenzhou mechanicals and electricals to Malaysia, Mexico, Liberia and Bangladesh attains USD 62.66 million, USD 31.77 million, USD 14.78 million and USD 11.57 million respectively, increasing by 111.81%, 10.99%, 1205.9% and 58.17% respectively on an annual basis.
